Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Card Legislation

Medical marijuana legalization began in Oklahoma when voters approved Oklahoma State Question 788, known as the Medical Marijuana Legalization Initiative. The Oklahoma State Department of Health oversees the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority (OMMA) which administers the rules and regulations regarding the state’s medical marijuana program. OMMA maintains a registry of patients, caregivers, and physicians and issues licenses for cultivators, processors, testing labs, transports, and medical marijuana dispensaries.

Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Card Cultivation & Possession Laws

Oklahoma medical marijuana card holders and their caregivers who are registered with OMMA can legally possess medical marijuana. The patients and caregivers can possess up to 3 ounces of cannabis on their person and 8 ounces at home, 1 ounce of cannabis concentrates, and 72 ounces of edible marijuana products. Patients are allowed to elect themselves to cultivate their own marijuana and limited to six mature marijuana plants and six seedlings. Such marijuana plants must not be visible from the public street. All possession of marijuana for non-medical use is a misdemeanor and individuals can face a fine.
